Helpful resources for supporting new teacher resilience and wellbeing
BRITE Program
The aim of this program is to help pre-service teachers build their awareness of the skills and practices that will help facilitate resilience in their teaching career.
The program contains 5 online interactive learning modules focused on:
Building resilience, Relationships, Wellbeing, Taking initiative and Emotions.
Throughout each module participants can take self-quizzes, learn about skills and strategies, view videos, apply skills to realistic situations, learn about what experts in the field have found and build their own personal toolkit.
The modules have been developed by a team of Australian teacher educators and are being widely used by pre-service teachers, practicing teachers, teacher educators and school leaders, in Australia and internationally.
Health Warning: This programme has been developed in Australia and so aligns with the Australian Teacher Standards, teacher training and safeguarding policies. Always talk to your BT’s subject tutor if you are unsure about how this aligns with school policies or the university programme.
It’s free to use and there is a certificate of completion, which BTs can add to their e-portfolio/OneNote.
University tutors may direct BTs to complete specific modules, but you may also wish to explore these as a mentor or ITE co-ordinator.
